Arctic experience: TLP 2004-1 was not only blessed with nordic weather conditions but also included a remarkable participation from the Norwegian Air Force with no less then 11 different aircraft noted during the course. This Hercules was photographed when arriving for a five-day-stay. The aircraft was scheduled to participate as "external asset". However, bad weather forced it to stay on the ground for a major part of it's visit to Florennes.

For the first time, F-15Es operated as external assets during TLP 2004-1. Five "Strike eagles" were present at Florennes during the last two weeks of the flying course, acting either as "aggressors" or as additional fighter escort for the TLP package, depending on the specific mission scenario. This pair of F-15s is captured during a hard run-and-break typical for USAF "Eagles".

One minute later, the leading aircraft of this F-15 two-ship is captured moments before touch-down, completing another successful TLP mission. The last week of TLP 2004-1 was blessed by fairly good weather conditions, allowing for all TLP missions beeing realized as scheduled. Additionally, some F-15s conducted regular training missions and even night-flying missions from Florennes.

Also operating as "aggressors" during TLP 2004-1 was a pair of Hawks from 100 Squadron based at Leeming. The aircrew of this unit are very skilled and respected air-combat pilots, using their small aircraft for simulating any threat ranging from fast jets to missiles - ideal for making TLP missions even more realictic.
