French Air Force's Escadrons de Reconnaissance 01.033 and 02.033 are some of the most famous and traditional European recce-units. Both units each sent a pair of their Mirage F.1CRs from Reims to Florennes for NATO Recce Meet 2003. A further special coloured example equipped with a ELINT pod visited on 31/07/03.

A newcomer amongst NATO's tactical recce-assets is the EF-18A. Spanish Air Force's 123 Escuadron used the RF-4C until 2002, before transferring to the "Hornet". When operating in the recce-role, EF-18s carry their recce-equipment inside a small pod attached to the left side of the fuselage.

Italian Air Force's 132°Gruppo brought some welcome colour to Recce Meet 2003 with this nice painted AMX. Normally based at Treviso-Istrana, the unit has a primary recce-role and operates AMXs equipped with a recce-pod under the fuselage.

Rarely seen outside Sweden is the recce-variant of the Viggen, the AJSF 37. As the type is expected to be retired soon, the three Viggens visiting Florennes for Recce Meet 2004, were highly appreciated by many aircraft enthusiasts as real highlights.

A striking contrast against the other high-tech recce-aircraft participating in NATO Recce Meet 2004: The Portuguese Alpha Jets operating from Florennes were scarcely equipped with any dedicated recce-equipment. Nevertheless, they brought some exotic flair to Belgium.
